Pain in my back (spondylosis)?

Andy, there are many parts to this question. One of the problems with people being in a wheelchair for extended hours is postural deviations. It is difficult to correct your posture when you are sitting for extended hours without taking a break. This allows weakness and atrophy to occur in the muscles that should be holding you in a correct position. How much stress are you under? The more stress the more the problems with blood pressure and headaches. This pressure could also cause a restriction in the breathing accessory muscles and give you the feeling of not being able to take a normal breath. Another problem with above knee amputees is that even with prosthetic devices the hip flexors just don't get stretched out properly and this creates more stress on the lower back which in turn pes this up the spine. My advice is to start with a doctor and get checked out. If there is nothing wrong then get a referral to a physical therapist and have them work with you. The need to work on the muscles that are atrophying is very important and should not be over looked.
