My 8 month old wants to nurse ALL night. Why?

I can't get my 8 month old to stop nursing all night. He wakes every hour, sometimes every half hour to nurse. He wakes up crying and won't calm down until he nurses. My are so sore in the morning and I'm ridiculously tired! I've tried giving him tylenol thinking it's his teeth bothering him. I've also tried giving him to his dad so he can try and get him to sleep by rocking him and so he doesn't smell me and want to nurse! What can I do for him to get him to sleep soundly and more or less give me a break???
